Now Corning Inc., announced  its preparation to expose Gorilla Glass 2 at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week, and the company said additional product details would be made available Jan. 9. In line with the company their glass is now featured on more than 30 major brands and designed into more than 575 product models, spanning in excess of 500 million units worldwide.

The company’s existing Gorilla Glass product has become a staple of the smartphone industry, topping the displays of a wide variety of models and keeping them well-protected from the rigors of daily use long gone are the days when dropping an unprotected device in your pocket meant a scratched screen.

The opportune debut of Gorilla Glass 2 comes just before the rumored early-2012 launch of the iPad 3, over and above the rumored summer-to-fall launch of the iPhone 5, leaving room in favor of Apple to include the newest technology on its upcoming devices.
