This is really useful article for those who want to jailbrak own iPhone as hands-on and hope you will like this special iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G jailbreak with Firmware 3.0 “redsnow” (This does not currently work for 3GS. Don’t even try, it really doesn’t) article.

1. Download the correct version of  redsn0w from the Dev-Team Blog.
   1. Unzip redsn0w.
2. Download the corresponding ipsw firmware for your phone. Save it into your redsn0w folder. I can’t stress this enough, if you grab the incorrect firmware, you will end up having to restore, or worse brick your phone.
3. Do a search on google for the ipsw for 3.0 for either your 2G or 3G model. I’m not linking it here, because that my friends goes against what I stand for.
   1. This step is only for people with a 2G phone.  If you have a 2G, you’ll need both of these files. Save them to your directory with your firmware & redsn0w (BL 3.9, BL 4.6)
4. Run redsn0w, and follow the on screen prompts to begin the jailbreak process.  When asked for it, point the application to the ipsw you just downloaded.
5. Select you want Cydia or Icy, BUT NOT BOTH. If you select both, its highly possible neither will work, and you’ll have to restore your phone. You’ve been warned, I did this myself.
6. Let the process finish.

Congrats, your phone should now be fully Jailbroken. If not, hit up the comments, and we’ll talk it out, but If you followed this step by step you should not have any problems. Some quick things I’d like to point out, there are a lot of tutorials out there that are just plain wrong, and dont have the BL files (from step 3a for 2G phones), so I hope you guys who have 2G appreciate that.
