Android Application: “Blinking Soon” Hulu Plus to Android

Hulu is a website offering ad-supported streaming video of TV shows and movies from NBC, Fox, ABC, and many other networks and studios. Hulu videos are currently offered only to users in the United States. In order to ensure that no international users outside the US have access to the videos, Hulu blocks many anonymous proxies, Amazon EC2 IP adresses and virtual private networks[citation needed]. Hulu provides video in Flash Video format, including many films and shows that are available in 288p, 360p, and 480p. Hulu also provides web syndication services for other websites including AOL, MSN, MySpace, Facebook, Yahoo!, and Comcast’s fancast.com.

Hulu Plus gives you exclusive access to every episode, all season long, of Glee, Modern Family, House, and dozens of other popular shows – some featuring full series runs – from ABC, Fox, NBC, and more.

Hulu Plus, the all-you-can-watch premium Hulu service, will soon become available on Android phones. A Hulu Plus application for select Android devices running OS 2.2 (Froyo) will make its debut in a few months time, CEO Jason Kilar announced yesterday during Samsung’s press conference at CES. Kilar demoed the application running on a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone during the event.

Hulu Plus will also soon find its way to Vizio Blu-ray players. Hulu Plus is already available on Roku, TiVo Premiere, iOS devices, consoles, select Internet-connected TVs and soon Boxee Box. The Android application, then, would seem a bit late to the party. The delay can likely be attributed to Hulu and Google butting heads over supporting Hulu Plus on Google TV, though the companies have sense ironed out their differences.
